Eight HUN-REN BRC Szeged researchers won NRDI Office grants

On December 17, 2024, the National Research, Development and Innovation Office (NRDI Office) published the list of winners of the STARTING and ADVANCED grants on its website, which includes the names of several researchers from the HUN-REN Biological Research Centre, Szeged (HUN-REN BRC Szeged).

 

The STARTING grant, aimed at supporting postdoctoral researchers in starting their independent research careers, was awarded to two researchers from our institute:

  • Szappanos, Balázs: The impact of mutational burden on human health in the light of multi-omics data
  • Lima, Rui Dániel: Vesicles as transmitters of the „molecular dialogue” between Medicago truncatula and its symbiont

 

The ADVANCED grant, which supports outstanding researchers already leading independent research groups, was awarded to six of our researchers:

  • Kintses, Bálint: Genomic Surveillance-driven Phage Therapy for Pseudomonas Aeruginosa Infections
  • Papp, Balázs: The evolutionary landscape of yeast multicellular traits
  • Kaló, Péter: Elucidation of the symbiotic role of Nodule-specific Cysteine-Rich (NCR) peptides using multiple approaches
  • Dér, András: The structure and functional significance of water at biological interfaces
  • Horváth, Péter: Morpho-Proteomic map of cancer mitosis
  • Szabados, László: Use of novel plant growth-promoting microbes to improve stress adaptation of crop plants
