Two Lendület (Momentum) research groups are starting in the BRC

2022. jún. 28. | News

The Hungarian Academy of Sciences announced the Momentum Program for the first time on January 14, 2009, with the aim of attracting and retaining young researchers with outstanding international performance to Hungary, and providing funding for research teams that promise breakthrough results. This year, as usual, applicants could choose from two categories, one for scholars who are about to start their independent research program and another for more established researchers.

In 2022, 19 of 109 applicants won the Lendület grant to establish Lendület research groups. 2 of them work at the Biological Research Centre, Szeged:

● Bálint Csörgő - Starting category, title of his proposal: Systematic study of the effect of profages in pathogenic bacteria

● Viktória Lázár - Starting category, title of her proposal: Exploration of microbiome-sparing antibiotic combinations

They establish their research groups within the Synthetic and Systems Biology Unit of the Institute of Biochemistry. Viktoria Lázár worked at the Roy Kishony laboratory at Technion in Israel and has joined the BRC this spring. Bálint Csörgő works at EMBL in Heidelberg as a postdoctoral fellow in the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Global Fellowship. His new group is expected to start in January next year.

Congratulations to the winners and we wish them much success!
