Congratulations to our newest academician!

Balázs Papp's work integrates the study of cellular networks with the understanding of evolutionary processes. His pioneering research laid the groundwork for the computational modeling of metabolic networks in the field of genomics and evolution. More recently, he has innovatively linked genomic epidemiology with phage therapy, opening a new perspective in the fight against pathogenic bacteria. As a 'Lendület' (Momentum Programme) group leader, he established a systems biology and metabolomics laboratory and secured further prestigious grants (e.g., Wellcome Trust and the 'Élvonal'). His research is consistently published in leading journals, including Cell, Nature portfolio journals, PNAS, and PLoS Biology. His career has been recognized with numerous awards, including the Junior Prima Prize, Szent-Györgyi Talentum Prize, Straub Plaque, and the Academic Award of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. He is a member of the European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO) and Academia Europaea.
