On December 5, the HUN-REN Excellence Awards, the Bárány Róbert Awards and the title of Researcher Professor Emeritus were presented in the Ceremonial Hall of the Hungarian National Museum.

Among the award winners was Lejla Daruka Pálné, a research associate at the Institute of Biochemistry of the HUN-REN Biological Research Centre, Szeged, who received the Bárány Róbert Award for her outstanding achievements in the prediction of antibiotic resistance. Her research focused on identifying antimicrobial peptides to which bacteria can develop little or no resistance. As a result of her work, she has developed new antimicrobial peptides that can be used effectively against multidrug-resistant bacteria. She is currently investigating the link between the infectivity of antibiotic-resistant bacteria and cancer.

Congratulations on the Award!
