The MSA (Mycological Society of America) Annual Meeting was organized between July 19-23, 2021; during the conference the C.J. Alexopoulos Prize was awarded to László Nagy, the group leader of Lendület Laboratory of Fungal Genomics and Evolution in the Institute of Biochemistry, for his outstanding research work.

Nominees for the Prize are early-career mycologists who are members of MSA and earned their last degree within 10 years from receiving the prize. The nominees are evaluated and selected by the MSA Distinctions Committee.

Congratulations to László Nagy for this award and we wish further success in his work. In László’s words “although the Prize was awarded to him, it in fact recognizes the results of an excellent team work in the Lendület Laboratory of Fungal Genomics and Evolution”.
