The mission of the Institute of Biophysics is to understand biological systems and biological processes using the approach of physics, and to explore biological material with special regard to its physical properties. The main areas studied include structure-function relationships of biological material, biological energy transduction, optical properties of chromoproteins and plasticity of the nervous system.
